![]() ![]() The thing is that this requires the headphone to be charged. When I’m paying $600 for a Thom Browne shirt, it’s because I want a TB shirt, not because it’s 10x as comfortable as an old navy shirt.įans would tell you that you can use the proprietary lighting to 3,5 mm cable Apple sells. Literally a third the price and sound better.Īll in all, I the game of luxury, nobody cares about dollar efficiency. If you’re looking for pure price efficiency, let me tell you, a pair of $80 Galaxy Buds blow the AirPod Pro out of the water. ![]() It’s not about the efficiency of your dollar, it’s about the SQ you want to achieve. That’s the point of this whole thing, it’s about sound quality, not price. Then if you want to get to a 9, you might need to pay $2000 more. You see why it doesn’t make sense? However, a pair of $800 headphones might be a 7 on the scale, and to get from a 5 to 7 you need to pay $600 more. Let’s say an AirPod is a 4, and your $200 AirPod pros are a 5, it’s impossible for anything to be 4 times better, considering there is no 20 in a 1 to 10 scale. Let’s put sound quality in a theoretical 1 to 10. Now, let’s look at your question of “$600 better” and maybe change it to, “4 times better”, which is almost as nonsensical, but easier to discuss. I personally don’t buy B&O or consider it hi-fi, but if you buy a pair of, say $800 Grado, Hifiman, Sennhaiser, or whatever, and have a proper source and amp, it will sound SIGNIFICANTLY better than your $200 headphones. I’ll explain to you, since I love high end goods, be it clothing, food, and what not.įirst of all, what does “sound $600 better” even mean? That question in and of itself is nonsensical. I have seen many YouTube videos, but I would like an advice given my "story" (if you can call it that).įor now I am thinking of waiting till Black Friday or Cyber Monday (and have seen price drops on Amazon). But I do not have an iPhone.įinally, I do not want Airpods/Airpods Pro (really any of these pods, buds) because they damage my ear, I have always preferred over/on-the-ear headphones because of this. My main tool is my iPad, I use it for everything music (I use Apple Music), college, writing, entertainment, and pretty much everything. I wouldn't say I am deep but I am not out of it also. I have read that if your not deep in the Apple Ecosystem then is no-go. But I worked hard this summer and I think I deserve something nice. I am not an adult that is financially responsible with a steady salary, just a college kid, so you can understand why the price tag bums me out. (although I have not tried newer ones from the last 2 years), and none have come close to that wonderful noise-cancellation and noise-transparency that the Airpods Max have. I've used other mainstream headphones, such as Beats, Sony, Bose, JBL, etc. By God, it was the best sound experience I've had. So I recently went to an Apple Store and tried on the Airpods Max.
